LIC AAO SYLLABUS & MARKING SCHEME

Dear Readers,

In the first quarter of the year, Most hot exam is LIC AAO due to good salary, less work pressure and urban posting.
Lot of exams are already done with and all of you are having a lot of expectations from IBPS PO and CLERK
results. Expectation of students is also right because these 2 exams add to 40,000-50,000 jobs which together is
more than all other banking exams being conducted in the whole year. But only 40,000 appeared for interview no
point talking about clerk as nothing is clear right now. If you get disappointed on 1st April then you will have
something to cheer about if you prepare well for LIC AAO.

With 700 vacancies, we can say that one stands a good chance of getting selected. Now the next question that
arises in our mind is that what is the pattern and what are the subjects included. Friends, let me be clear with one
thing that all the Insurance Sector Exams and Banking Sector Exams have more or less same syllabus. The only
difference is the marking scheme and the distribution of questions. This simply means that you don’t have to do
anything extra but to keep practising and shifting some of your focus on a few subjects. Below is the table
depicting the pattern and the marking scheme of the exam.

ranking.

After having gone through the pattern and the vacancies, the next thing is the check list that you will have to
complete before the exam. The syllabus again will have all the chapters and topics that one should definitely
study for the exam. Concentrating on pattern and the scheme of examination, we can say that attempting
Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude more will help you earn a lead in the exam. Although the number of
questions are same for each subject but the marks allotted is more for Reasoning and Quant. So, let's start with
Quant.

Quantitative Aptitude:

  • Percentage
  • Ratio and Proportion
  • Averages
  • Profit and loss
  • Time and work
  • Time and Distance
  • Mixture and alligation
  • Boat and Stream
  • Series
  • Quadratic Equation
  • Data sufficiency
  • Probability
  • Data Interpretation

As we have already discussed that the syllabus will remain almost similar but the pattern will be different. So you
can expect that the questions will be based on the above topics only. Now coming to the next subject, we can say
that this subject became the HITLER in IBPS PO Mains exam and you guessed it right, it's reasoning.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Machine Input Output
  • Coding-Decoding
  • Puzzles(linear,circular and tabular)
  • Direction and Distance
  • Order and ranking
  • Syllogism
  • Blood relations
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Seating arrangement
  • Arrangement and pattern
  • Classification/Analogy
  • Coded Inequalities

The only thing that can prove to be tough is Puzzle, rest everything will be normal. The best thing is to attempt the
puzzle in the end if you have time. You can make a strategy based on your weaknesses and strengths. But
friends, always go with easy ones first. The next subject is computer knowledge.

Computer:

  • Fundamentals of the Computer (Hardware and Software, Memory and Memory Units, Number System)
  • Internet
  • Microsoft Office (MS-Office)
  • Networking
  • DBMS (Database Management System)
  • Programming Languages
  • Full Forms/Abbreviations and Important Terms
  • Shortcut Keys
  • Miscellaneous (Latest in Computers and Mobile Technology)

At the time of PO Mains 2015, we saw many students clearing the cut-offs but they were just short by .5 or .25
marks short in computers and the number of such students are huge. So friends, this time be careful and do study
computer as well because weight age of computer is equal to general awareness. The next subject is the
favourite subject of each and every aspirant because it proved to be the life saver in Mains exam. Yes, the next
 subject is the general awareness.

General Awareness/Current Affairs

You can only be able to score well in this section if you keep yourself updated with the current happenings and
the basics of banking and insurance. We will be providing capsule as well for this and that will cover almost all
your needs. Follow the  Meriview and all the Current Affair Quizzes that are posted on Meriview on
a daily basis, be thorough with the last 3 months atleast. Make sure that you do not leave this subject for the end,
it should be a daily process for all of you. Be regular with the Daily Gk Update that will help you learn it on a
regular basis. Last but not the least is the English language.

English Language:

English might be qualifying in nature but you all know what it is capable of. So the strategy to attempt English will
be as simple as to attempt only questions you are confidence doing. No need to score good in this. Just try to
attempt safe. The topics would be

Reading Comprehension
Cloze Test
Error Detection/phrase correction
Para Jumbles
Fill In The Blanks/Sentence Improvement.

Even though the number of seats are less, that should not discourage you from putting your best foot forward , as
each exam takes you closer to a job. No amount of preparation ever goes waste. So keep your preparations on,
put your best foot forward and move ahead!

Good luck!
